Using AltaVista's Translation Service

Use AltaVista's Translation Service to display Web pages with translated text. (The results won't be perfect, but the translation is usually intelligible. Best of all, it's free!)

There are two ways to translate text with AltaVista. The first is simple:

Copy and paste the URL from the "Address" window on your browser into the AltaVista translation window above. Then select the desired language pair (such as "German to English') and click the "Translate" button.

This method doesn't always work, so--if necessary--try this alternative method:

Highlight the text you want to translate, then copy and paste it into the AltaVista translation window above. Select the desired language pair and click the "Translate" button.

Don't know how to copy and paste?

(In Windows) use ctrl + c to copy and ctrl + v to paste.
