SpyMaps™
ABOVE: Miniature replicas of SpyMaps™ for Italy, the Faroe Islands, and France. SpyMaps are simple, but they're useful in helping you locate cities in each country. Online maps aren't yet ready to replace traditional maps, since even the largest computer monitor is no substitute for an exquisitely printed map the size of a tabletop. Still, Web-based maps can be handy for quick reference, basic trip planning, and homework assignments. This SpyMaps™ collection has up-to-date maps for more than 30 countries and dependencies in Western Europe and the North Atlantic. Each SpyMaps page also has links to other online maps, related pages in my Europe Travel Planner, and travel articles at Europe for Visitors. The maps were created by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and obtained through the Perry-Castañeda Library Map Collection at the University of Texas, Austin. To speed display time, I've reduced the map dimensions slightly and compressed the files to approximately 10% of their original size. Each map is accompanied by a "Printable version" link that displays the map at its original size and quality in an otherwise empty browser window for easy printing. (Please be patient and allow time for the higher-quality, printer-ready maps to download.) To view and print maps, go now to the SpyMaps Index. And if you need to buy maps online, plan a driving itinerary, look up subway routes, etc., see the Maps/Route Planners page of my Europe Travel Planner.
