The third Boscastle Festival of Food, Arts and Crafts has been spiced up with extra ingredients to make it the best yet. The giants of Cornish cuisine will be sending their executive chefs, including Neil Haydock from Fifteen Cornwall and Bill James, the Seafood virtuoso from Rick Stein's empire. Kevin Viner, winner of Cornwall's first Michelin Star, will be making a personal appearance cooking up a cracking weekend of fresh food and fun on the North Cornish coast. The weekend festival will be a showcase for Cornwall's "plough to plate" local food and drink with more than 90 producers in the giant marquees alongside the chefs who'll be showing off their skills. Open from 10am - 4pm both days, entrance into the Festival of Food is £3 per person on the day or £4 booked in advance for the two days; under 16s free. For more information or to book tickets call the Boscastle Visitor Centre on Tel: 01840 250010, email: boscastlevc@btinternet.com . Details can also be found on www.visitboscastle.co.uk or www.visitboscastleandtintagel.com. Boscastle Walking Festival Boscastle will be putting its best foot forward for the second annual Boscastle Walking Festival between Monday 6 and Friday 10 October offering a flexible "pick and mix" of walks and activities. This allows walkers to make their own itinerary joining the festival for individual walks, a day, or staying over and taking a short break. Guided by local experts, the twenty or so walks will be graded according to their length and difficulty and cost between £2 and £4 per person. Extending out from the village and covering Boscastle, Port Isaac, Tintagel, Bodmin Moor and Poundstock this year's walks will touch on themes such as the environment, history, literary and industrial heritage or geology. Most routes will start from Boscastle Visitor Centre. Adding variety to the week is a daily scenic trip on the Peganina local fishing boat. Skippered by Ken, it will take visitors along the coastline towards Tintagel, then back past the harbour mouth to the seal holes near Beeny -- a playground for adult seals and their pups. Another new dimension this year is the introduction of a "sketchbook session" in the harbour area. Talented local artist and writer Debbie King has been commissioned to hold these new afternoon sessions. She has a wealth of experience in getting people to look closely at their environment, helping them to recreate what they discover through art, photography and the written word. Evening entertainment will include a quiz, pottery demonstration, Witchcraft Museum tour, local produce sampling and much more. Hungry walkers will also be able to take advantage of the popular "meal deals" at various local hostelries. For further information, or to book a place on a walk, contact the Boscastle Visitor Centre on Tel: 01840 250010 email: boscastlevc@btinternet.com.
