Amsterdam five-star hotels

Amsterdam Renaissance Hotel
This newly renovated five-star hotel has two amenities that its competitors lack: an authentic 'brown café' that existed before the hotel was built, and a 17th Century domed church with a working organ and carved wooden pulpit that serves as a conference center. (See our illustrated Amsterdam Renaissance Hotel review.)

Hotel InterContinental Amstel
This luxury hotel has catered to the rich and famous since 1867.

Hotel de l'Europe
Service and intimacy are the focus here. The hotel has just 100 rooms, an elegant 19th Century decor, and enough modern amenities so you won't think you've been trapped in the Victorian Era.

Golden Tulip Jan Tabak
In the summer, you can eat breakfast on the garden terrace of this modern 87-room hotel in a residential district of Amsterdam. The hotel has a tennis court and a garage with free parking.

Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky
With 429 rooms and a location facing the Royal Palace, the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky is favored by upscale tours and business groups.

Le Méridien Apollo
The former Apollo Pavilion opened in 1928, when Amsterdam hosted the Olympic Games. It became a hotel in 1962, and today it offers 201 rooms and 18 suites plus assorted bars and restaurants. It's located in the Museum Quarter, just beyond the city center.

Hotel Pulitzer
Two canals frame the Sheraton Pulitzer, which has 230 rooms, suites, and apartments in 24 restored 17th and 18th Century houses. The hotel has a garden, and many rooms have oak ceiling beams.

NH Amsterdam Centre Hotel
This modern 229-room luxury hotel is opposite the Leidseplein near the Rijksmuseum. Two restaurants are on the premises, and a parking garage is within walking distance. (Note: The NH Amsterdam Centre should not be confused with the three-star NH City Centre Hotel.)

NH Barbizon Palace
The flagship hotel of Golden Tulip International is built behind the façades of 19 historic buildings from the 17th and 18th Centuries. Many of its 275 rooms incorporate the original oak beams and rafters. The Barbizon Palace is located across the street from Centraal Station, and you can park in the underground garage or arrive by boat at the private landing.
