Hotel Ambassade
Ten historic houses were joined to create the Ambassade, where the
decorating scheme runs to antique furniture and chandeliers.
Hotel AMS Beethoven
This Best Western affiliate has reasonable rates and a location near the RAI
Centre and the World Trade Centre, making it handy for conventions. The hotel is
served by KLM's Schiphol Airport shuttle.
AMS
Hofpark Résidence
The large executive rooms have kitchenettes at this stylish modern hotel near
the Vondelpark. Suites, including a deluxe penthouse suite, are available.
Hotel AMS Toro
Two turn-of-the-20th-Century mansions have been converted into a 22-room
boutique hotel with a garden terrace overlooking the Vondelpark. The lounge and
breakfast room are furnished with antiques.
Hotel Amsterdam
The Amsterdam was built in 1911 on the Damrak, the city's main tourist
thoroughfare. It's near the Dam Square, and you can easily reach the hotel on
foot or via tram from Centraal Station.
Hotel Estheréa
Three generations of the same family have run the Estheréa since it began as a
12-room inn in 1942. Today, the hotel offers 70 rooms in six connected houses
that face the Singel Canal and the Spuistraat. The Estheréa has free coffee and
tea in the lounge, books for guests to borrow, and amenities for children.
Golden Tulip Caransa
Like the Golden Tulip Schiller across the square (see below), the Caransa is
located on the Rembrandtsplein, a 15-minute walk from the Central Station. The
66-room hotel's breakfast room has a terrace.
Golden Tulip Doelen
The Doelen overlooks the Amstel River in central Amsterdam. It's hard to say
which is more appealing: the convenient location, the handsome 19th Century
building, or the views of canal houses and passing boat traffic.
Golden Tulip Schiller
Frits Schiller, a Dutch artist who owned this 92-room hotel for much of the 20th
Century, claimed that he painted "only between lunch and dinner." The
Golden Tulip Schiller has a delightful location on the Rembrandtsplein in
central Amsterdam.
Hotel Die Port Van Cleve
This first-class hotel occupies an 18th Century building behind the Royal Palace
on the Dam Square. It was completely renovated in 1997 and offers 120 rooms and
suites.
Inntel
Amsterdam Centre
This modern hotel near the Central Station is convenient to shopping
and tourist attractions. Some of the 236 rooms are equipped for handicapped
guests or reserved for non-smokers. Secure parking is available nearby with a
25% discount for Inntel guests.

Memphis Hotel
The Memphis, a Dutch outpost of Ireland's Gresham chain, has 74 rooms
(some of them non-smoking) behind its ivy-covered façade.
It's located between the Amstel Canal and the Vondelpark.
Novotel
With 600 rooms in a modern building next to the World Trade Center and the RAI
convention center, the Novotel is a convenient choice for business travelers.
Its amenities include a swimming pool and parking for 250 cars.
Park Hotel
With 187 guest rooms (including deluxe "club rooms" and suites), this centrally
located hotel is big enough for a conference or family reunion.
Victoria Hotel
The dowager queen of Amsterdam's four-star hotels is centrally located on the
Damrak, with double-glazed windows to block street and tram noise from its 305
air-conditioned rooms. The railroad station and canal excursion boats are
opposite the hotel, which was built in 1905.
